Given the unique and important role that razor clamming has played in Washington state, I think that designating this shellfish as the state clam is appropriate and exciting.

I’ve been digging razor clams for that past 50 years and they have been an important part of my life outdoors. I can’t think of a more fitting clam to represent the state of Washington as the official clam.

I cannot think of a bivalve more deserving of the honor. I am 100% behind making the razor clam the official state clam of Washington.
